Reigate Priory PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) is an essential and valued part of the school community. All parents automatically become members just by having a child at the school and there is an enthusiastic PTA committee comprising both parents and teachers.
The PTA has two main aims:
- support our children's learning through raising funds
- arrange social events for Reigate Priory families to enjoy
Like many schools, Reigate Priory has been hit by Government funding cuts and this has had a detrimental effect on what the school can offer to the children. Without PTA contributions to the school, there may not be School Minibuses, residential trips, library refurbishment, staging, lighting, etc. In the past, funds raised by the PTA paid for ‘extras’; however, in the current climate, these funds are increasingly used for essential learning resources. It is, therefore, more important than ever that the PTA is well represented and active in its efforts to help as much as possible to offer our children the very best opportunities.
EVENTS: Reigate Priory School has a great tradition of annual events, which can only succeed with the support of parents, both helping and attending. This year’s calendar of events for this school year is:
- 8 July 2017 - PTA Summer Festival
The PTA committee for 2016/17 is:
- Kate Curtis & Liza Loughman (Outgoing Co-Chairs) – stepping down at AGM
- Lise Naughton (Secretary)
- Sasha Dunn (Treasurer)
- Olga Alonso-Ferrer (Vice Treasurers)
- Mr Moses, Mrs Dean and Mr Bott (Staff Reps)
Both of the Co-Chairs will be stepping down at the AGM as their children are leaving the school, hence these positions need to be filled. At the AGM all of the present incumbents putting themselves forward for another term of office are subject to a vote. If you wish to put your name forward as a candidate for any position, vacant or not, then please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Committee is currently comprised of seven people, with another substantial group of parents who give their time regularly. If you are interested in what the work of the PTA involves, or in helping to organise an event, please come along to the AGM or a PTA meeting or email email@example.com. Becoming involved with our children’s school is very rewarding because we are part of the school community, get to know other parents and teachers, and we see the immediate benefits of our fundraising. We raise about £25,000 every year, which goes directly to our children’s learning and school experience.
PTA meetings are held every half term, class reps are all invited and any parents are welcome to attend.
