70th Anniversary Celebrations

The end of any academic year is always an exciting time but for Reigate Priory School, this one promises to be extra special as we celebrate our 70th Anniversary. We are very pleased to share with you some information about our specially planned events to mark this significant milestone in our history.

The week of planned learning, activities and events is designed to shine a light on the heart of Reigate Priory’s ethos of ‘Bringing Learning to Life both Inside and Out’ and our school ‘C’ Values.

The school day will run as normal throughout the week with children expected to be in normal school uniform unless indicated in the following information:

Friends Re-United – Mon 15th July

The third part of the trio of friendship days this year, where we will be focussing on caring, cooperation and friendship. Working with classmates and peers from across the school in a range of activities, this will be a great opportunity to revisit the key messages to date and also look forward into next year.

Outdoor Active Day – Year 3 & 5 Tues 16th July / Year 4 & 6 Wed 17th July

The use of the Outdoor Classroom and our Priory Park surroundings have become an instrumental part of learning at Reigate Priory. By popular demand, children will be enjoying a bonus Bonding Day, filled with team building activities and challenges.

As in September, your child will need to arrive in their school uniform, with a bag containing a change of named ‘Bonding’ clothes suitable for outdoor activity at this time of year. Hopefully, we can expect some summertime weather so remember to provide your child with a sun hat, water bottle and arrive to school with a good application of sunscreen.

Bonding Day would not be the same without a picnic, so like at the beginning of the year, children will require a packed lunch on this day. Please remember we are a nut-free school.

Art/History Day – Year 3 & 5 Wed 17th July / Year 4 & 6 Tues 16th July

The past 70 years have seen major events in our school and country’s history, and seen art styles and trends come and go.  To celebrate our anniversary, together we are going to create a ‘mural’ from 630 pieces of art showing these changing times.

FSA Anniversary Disco – Wed 17th July

The FSA will be hosting two celebratory discos in the Inner Courtyard after school:

Year 3 & 4 Disco 4:30pm – 5:30pm                   Year 5 & 6 Disco 6pm – 7pm

The discos are a FREE ticketed event open to all current Priory children but places must be booked through WisePay. There will be some tuck available to buy as part of the fun so a named purse or wallet with a few pounds would be perfect. Children are welcome to come in their own clothes.

Entrance and sign-in to the disco will be via the Green Gate into the playground. At the end of the disco, children can be collected from the lower playground in a similar fashion to the end of the school day.

Should your child be attending T-Club-6 that night, please communicate with Liz Solomon directly as to whether your child is attending the disco and if you will be collecting them from T-Club-6 or the lower playground.

Surprise Event! – Thurs 18th July

Following a quiet morning making final preparations for Family Morning, after lunch…well… shhhhhh …… it’s a surprise!

A traditional and popular Reigate Priory end of year day to bring our 70th Anniversary Week to close. These events are open to all family and friends of our children. We hope to see as many of you as possible to celebrate their learning and support them in their sporting endeavours.

Please remember that dogs should not be brought onto the school site and for their and children’s safety, should not be tied to nearby railings.

Commemorative Medal

In recognition of the significance of the 70th Anniversary, children will receive a special, souvenir medal to take home and treasure – hopefully, it will help unlock memories of a wonderful week in years to come.

70th Anniversary Hoodie

For the 70th Anniversary Week only, the commemorative hoodie will become part of the school uniform. Assuming that it will be cool enough to wear it, children who purchased this unique item will be able to wear it into school instead of their red jumper.

The week promises to offer the perfect celebration for our 70th Anniversary and will live long in the memories of the whole school community. We look forward to enjoying it with you and all our pupils.
