The National College for School Leadership (NCSL) describes teaching schools as follows:
“Teaching schools are part of the government’s drive to give schools more freedom and take increasing responsibility for managing the school system. As well as offering training and support for their alliance themselves, teaching schools will identify and co-ordinate expertise from their alliance…”
SOUTH EAST SURREY TEACHING ALLIANCE (SESTA)
Reigate Priory has been successful in its application to become a Government approved National Teaching School, alongside five other ‘outstanding’ schools - Dovers Green, Holmesdale, Reigate Valley College, Reigate School and Reigate College: together we now form the South East Surrey Teaching School Alliance (SESTA). This successful outcome brings to a close a six month application process which tested every element of each school’s quality and capacity for providing the very best education for young learners.
It is a real accolade that the on-going success and effectiveness of Reigate Priory School, including the quality of our teaching, school leadership and the way in which we support other schools and train new teachers has been recognised in the achievement of this status. There are not many areas of the UK where all the outstanding schools and the local outstanding sixth form college are working together in partnership to ensure that students at all ages up to 19 get a first class learning experience. This designation will provide the perfect platform to not only help ensure the high level of education we provide your children but also help the school’s in the Alliance to support and develop other schools across the Southeast.
